| Historic Turtle Found
- PJS - 1913 was the carving on the
bottom of a turtle that was found recently on a farm on the north side of
Paul's State Forest. PJS is believed to be Paul J. (Pete) Simmers the father of
one of Clover Hill Fire Company's life members Frankie Simmers.
Pete's father was Frank Simmers who owned a farm on the north
side of Paul's State Forest during this time frame.
Frank was known to spend hours carving initials and dates on the
bottom of turtles. Pete would
have been two years old in 1913.
There was an article along with a picture of
Frank Simmers in the Daily News Record approximately 40 years ago
about a turtle that was found with Frank's initials on the bottom with an
early 1900's date. As you
can see from the picture, the carving was done well and still is in
excellent condition.

New MSA Evolution
4000 Thermal Imaging Camera installed on Engine 174 in January 2003. The
MSA Evolution is a state of the art Thermal Imaging Camera. This
camera has the ability to detect heat which is then displayed as a
picture on its built-in LCD screen. The higher temperatures are
displayed in brighter whites and the cooler temperatures in a light gray or
black, as shown below. This gives the Fire Fighter the ability to see
someone in a burning building even in zero visibility conditions. (Click
